When Sorry Isn't Enough

Contributed by memories_mist on Tuesday, 8th November 2005 @ 10:11:31 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

I wakeup in the morning to a cold and lonely bed,
thoughts of our conversation still linger in my head.

All the What if's come rushing back into play,
should I have saved the truth for another day.

We both said so many things, we got off track,
Now I lie here thinking how I can get you back.

I made your heart bleed, did I call your bluff,
Will a simple apology be just enough.

A door slams shut, what brought you back,
you slam things around as you begin to pack.

I beg for forgiveness, words flow from within,
you stand back and stare at me like I didnt even
begin.

Hate-filled eyes burn through me, I fill with fright,
How do I make this right.

Glass shatters above me tears flow down my cheeks,
what has he done, I lay there in blood-soaked sheets.

The smell of dirt surrounds me, my lungs hard to fill,
I stare up at him, is this all for real.

Everything goes dark and I'm all alone again.
