Charlie

your voice smells of her infulence, Charlie.
it's pungent like that fall morning,
when you fell into forever
and never rolled out again.

shirts stained with coffee
and the sweat of cigarettes--
your cancer is always coming,
so don't let this hold you back.

Her sihlouette draws upon your doorstep--
it's 1:15, this shouldn't be.
the moon is still gloating--
it's too early in the morning.
it's too late at night.

she's been up for hours
just trying to get you right.
you're drowing;
you can't feel it but you are.

fingers sticking.

knee deep now, dear.
i'd let you breathe if i could.
but you're blind to me.

and you let that smile melt you, Charlie.
i hear that bite in your stance,
she rips at your sleeves,
unthreads your pockets,
and unties your shoes.
i saw it, Charlie.

i taste her habit in your eyes.
such a luxurious leech--
i'd never seen someone bend so far backwards--
impersonating a perfect arch
moaning for more.
more.
more.
mo--

hush, Charlie.
your tongue is rank of manipulation.
it's such a deep drop into infinity--
and there is no way out.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
