OUR TURKEY DAY WAS BAD
Tom Turkey was stuffed with love and care, Warm, cozy--oven tucked, feeling no despair We mortals slept soundly, me in my cap. Silent and secure a slumbering winter's nap. Sitting quietly upon the high kitchen counter Pumpkin pie, homemade rolls, all under cover, I awoke suddenly and sprang from a warm bed Away to the oven I flew with much dread! All night Tom's in the oven to bake very slowly. I tore open the oven and what should appear?
'Twas Tom Turkey with his tanned tummy! And when I turned him over everything was brown, even his rear!
Piedy the bird was the first to arrive......... Hoping against hope his Uncle Tom Turkey was still alive,
In ran the critters, to see what was the matter? They were all hungry and caused much clatter The moon had disappeared from the breast of my newly raked yard, Montie's still sleeping, as we sighed with relief Tom is not charred!
Then the weird sound, was so scary, Toastie hid under the oven door! I realized it was Piedy Bird stuck in the drawer....
Montie, Montie hurry come quickly please!!!! Piedy's tail is caught even though he's lively and quick....... He won't let me touch him, Montie, he knows I roast birds with ease..... Montie, wake up--come like a flash I'm heartsick!"
"His tail is stuck Montie, what should we do?" We both heard him whistle and shout and call out a name or two.
He twisted, and turned, with his rear out of gear, His eyes how they twinkled, his little cheeks orange with fear. His droll little beak was drawn up like a bow. We tried everything to dislodge his long tail it was stuck like Velcro
And then in a twinkling I saw him appear, Without a tail, but chubby and plump, still in good cheer. We laughed when we saw him, in spite of his loss A wink of his eye and twist of his head freed from such chaos. He spoke not a word, but flew straight to his nest All he lost was his tail, he felt rather blessed. Where's the critters? and Piedy's Uncle? They're not in the house, we'd better hustle.
There on the patio we found Tom Turkey's remains In all the excitement we'd forgotten the critters restrains. While we were rescuing one bird the other was being eaten But please don't be downhearted, for this whole little story is all fiction! Our Turkey day was not Bad, It was the best one we've ever had! This might just be me but that was kind of strangely disturbing(kind of). I'm glad that didn't actually happen =). Please make a comment on this 13 year old girl's poems. Oh and about your poem "HOMELESS", did that actually happen? If it did I am so sorry and I pray for you. Please update that soon cuz I'm really not one of the people who can be kept in suspense for long... so yeah that's about all I can say so I guess I'll look for more of your poems l8er cuz it's 2:43 a.m.
Talk to ya l8er,
