It takes something like this
To get back where I was
Where I am
Sinking in the whirlpool
Of the golden rule
Originally thought of as sand
Get that ego up
Confidence fills my gut
Compliments are never enough
Especially when they involve
That naughty rough stuff
Often referred to as love
And hate, and various such
Congratulatory self- hugs
Pats on the back from your waist up
Purple neck
Thighs on the attack from the waist down
The swelling will die
And never be found
The music becomes instrumental
To the strength, when it hit
The ear was bit
To please the audience
And maybe make them sit
It takes something like that
To bring me back
Falling to the blue earth, flat
Gaining fatal momentum
At each passing cloud
Each hemisphere allowed
To take one piece of me
And maybe make me proud

It's funny how our most depressing moments make for the best writes, isn't it? The woes of a writer...lol...I like this piece, it's rather profound, and written with a sort of clarity that I'm seeing more and more of in your work. I really like that last stanza.
