Devil, My Devil

Contributed by Rakerman1999 on Monday, 5th December 2005 @ 07:03:14 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I have seen you in the night
when the moon refuses light
when the stars grow dim and cold
in the darkness, I behold
as a ghost, a spirit haunting
eyes aglow with evil taunting
hiding, staying out of sight
but I have seen you in the night

I have heard your voice of woe
tempting sounds that rhyme and flow
spoken by a tempest sea
no-one hears the words but me
Raging with a constant beating
waves of doom that keep repeating
camouflaged, so none will know
but I have heard your voice of woe

I have felt your devil's touches
trembled in your deadly clutches
sensed your presence, you are near
dumbstruck, paralyzed with fear
Others, fools, they do not feel
hear nor see...

but you ARE real

not a demon self confined
to a mad and tortured mind

Larry a very deep emotional write detailing ones struggle within himself. I commend you for writing your utmost inner feelings.

but you ARE real

not a demon self confined
to a mad and tortured mind

May sorrow be cleansed from ur heart and may ur days ahead be much brighter dearest Larry.

Larry!!!! This is OUTSTANDING!!!! You've grabbed hold of the magic and set it down here on the page! My how you have!

I'm inclined to think this would be a rather good inclusion in "How To Be A Poet 101" (only... such things really can't be taught, can they?)

I'm absolutely overjoyed for you. This is most certainly something to be proud of!

Finding this incredibly potent,
~Snemmy

I have returned here at least three times today Larry, and read this twice last night.

I will say this ... you and I may occasionally debate form, or word choice ... but I am never disappointed when I read from you. I can always find an even rhythm. You write in a comfortable manner that I find myself continually falling into. I never have to stop and review a hiccup ... I find depth and relatability in much of what you pen. And there is no exception here.

Nazzy ~

This is a powerful poem depicting a lot of inner turmoil and struggle. The picture you paint with your words is vivid and you include great imagery. I am sorry for your inner struggle; but it was beautifully portrayed my friend.

Great write Larry

A poem to the ambiguous muse, maybe?

I have seen you in the night
when the moon refuses light

Love it, just love it!
