I sat and watched dirty tears roll from your eyes, I heard your soul cry too Youd clung on to broken words For so long Then let go And watched all you knew fall helplessly away from you Sunken in to sorrow and surrounded by your grief The world had got you spinning Grinding bones and teeth And shallows joys were left behind The world a treacherous place Your ocean was dry A vacant spirit in a worn out case Your voice covered in cobwebs Seldom put to use Pupils dilated Your face empty and vast No longer protected By a porcelain mask The light bulb had blown and never been replaced Like a gust of wind that left in haste Batteries were dead Your body immobile, Just thoughts in your head I took just one look to say my goodbye I knew you were ready As I cast you with my eye Take flight like an angel and fly with the birds Your spirit is beautiful although your wings were hurt I saw your pain and felt you fight You didnt give up God gave you his light

Wonderfully written! It felt slow and difficult to read at first, but it sooned picked up momentum...quickly becoming a favourite of mine.
My fave lines had to be:
Pupils dilated
Your face empty and vast
No longer protected
By a porcelain mask
The light bulb had blown and never been replaced
Like a gust of wind that left in haste
Batteries were dead
Your body immobile
It struck a chord with me... I honestly wish i had
written it myself
Keep up the excellent writing. |
