Safety

Topic: obsession

Deadlocks, alarms nothing keeps us safe;
Predators always have a means of entry.
When looking behind you they are there,
It is so unexpected that you do not realize.
They follow you and trace your every step.
Any chance they get they will watch you sleep.
The life of a stalker is their targets!
You get out the shower, and they watch you dry;
When going for a swim, they are next to you.

Now, and only now are you aware,
You begin to notice the little things.
The coffee cup that has been used in the night,
The picture of you that has been repositioned,
And the extra knife and fork in the sink.
Now you start looking behind you every second;
But now is too late to look behind you
They are in and are standing in front of you,
Yet you spend all your time looking behind.

Looking in the bathroom mirror, you see them,
Standing there staring at you with twisted admiration.
Each night you follow a new safety procedure;
You lock the doors, board up the windows,
Deadbolt the doors and windows, and arm the alarms.
Your sleep is disturbed by even the slightest sound,
When you start to sleep easier they strike!
There is nothing you can do to prevent it, paralyzed with fear.
Paying the price for safety, you cannot escape your tomb!
