Love in a Distant Future

Contributed by heartquake on Sunday, 11th December 2005 @ 04:59:38 PM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

Laying on grassless ground in the dark
Looking into the ebony sky for stars
Although the stars burned out years ago
Blinking lights from the sky still glow

A shooting star has long been a myth
A fairy tale that we all have missed
Those lights still flicker in the night
But they aren't stars, just a billion satellites

Satellites that are watching us from space
Their telescopic cameras centering on your face
A face more beautiful than the last sea
Which is bound to dry out in the coming weeks

We'll rest under the only tree for miles
In a world about to die, I'll remember your smile
This is our love in a distant future
Older than time, but the same as before

How true, how true. I would say more, but I may be being watched! Good write.
