Because of him I closed my heart I vowed I would never again let anyone in Because of him I believed that men couldnt be trusted That my dad is the only guy I can rely on Because of him I became defensive I try so hard to keep guys from getting close Because of him I lost my happiness
But things have began to change My smile has been recovered My life once again has meaning My days are happy like before My trust is still weak, but slowly is building
Because of you I can now show the world my smile Instead of hiding it behind a mask of tears Because of you I feel beautiful inside and out Rather than ugly and insecure Because of you I feel as though someone wants me Rather than being there to be there Because of you I now dont need to fake happiness You have brought it back into my life Because of you I no longer dream of how things wouldve been Instad, I think of how things could be by having you with me
As one door closes, one always opens Even though my heart breaks, it will always mend Because of the pain he caused me Because of the tears that I cried Im glad it all happened Because it gave me back my life, my happiness But most importantly, it brought me to you!

Yes, as one door closes another opens. Everything happens for a reason and life is a journey. This poem tells the story of that journey very well. My favourite stanza is the last one as it sums up the meaning of the poem perfectly. Excellent!
