So odd seeing you
Again
what has it been?
Ten years and running, yes?
These funny
Ghosts of Christmas past
Keep popping up
With an endless cast
Of all the random people
You had to be
At that bar, in time
An instant celebrity
In my mind
I had forgot all about
How you once employed me
With a simple pout
And how after
I cussed you out
And left you unwelcome
In my humble house
I appreciate your smile
I hope you say the same
It was nice to see you
After those stupid games
I wish we would have
exchanged a few words
I'm interested to know
How you dealt with buzzards
That circled shortly
After my departure
How that cherub treated you
The twisted archer
You were looking good
Though a bit too old
Older than me
A staple for the fold?
I may never know
And that's ok
Because I have let go
Of everything.

...ornery how we keep bumping into the past...regardless of age, we still have little if any control over what bumps into us, and just a wee bit of control over how we respond...
...strange...this is the first holiday I spent with me...just me...I wouldn't do it every year, but I kind of enjoyed being with me...that hasn't always been the case...my ego and id could have easily played the characters in this poem as recently as ten months ago...but not today...that's progress...
...I enjoyed the romp...
