I don't know what I'd have done
If you were never there
Giving me a shoulder to lay on
Proving someone really did care
I've been lost in the dark for so long now
I never thought I'd see the light
But then you came and took me
To where the stars all shined bright
I'd given up on trying
After all the tears I'd wept
And then you came along
Off my feet was I swept
You took my heart away from me
And kept it for your own
Gave me yours in return
Your true love was shown
I can't believe I'm saying this
With so many years ahead
But there's no one I'd rather be with
Until I'm gone and dead
So take pity on this poor girl
Whose heart resides with you
Take care of it with all you've got
Because she wants this love to be true
So finish the job you've started
Healing up my heart
And promise to me that you will
Complete this task which you did start

What a sweet poem, with such a gentle flow and choice of words. Almost makes a grown man cry, if his ducts were not already dry.
I really enjoyed this. It opens my heart and makes me understand a little more about the innocence of passion and love.

| I like this- no it's not perfect from a poetic point of view but it has depth and emotion that more than makes up for the beat structure. It is this depth that makes this one of your best poems. |
