"postponed indefinitely"
this great relationship that should have been
in your mind the time was not right
so for now we stay as friends
i am trying hard to believe
that what you said was true
how the problem really isn't me
but rather, it is you
something's wrong, deep inside
things you will not say
but no matter however long it takes
i promise i will stay
lending a shoulder and my ears
when you need to cry
i'll be the one telling you
how everything will be alright
you said you care for me,
in ways i do not know
and because of that compassion
this relationship is on hold
you said you'd hate to start something
that should be just right
when inside you are not happy
darkness has clouded your inner light
hearing those words,
"we should just be friends"
brought pain to my heart
but i'll pretend
even if this is our relationship's end
that i'm not falling apart
everything with me is going great
there's not much else to say
rather i will focus on you
helping get you through each day
because i know something's wrong
it's there in your eyes
behind that beautiful smile
sits pain and misery in disguise
i will be strong for you
but alone i sit and cry
thinking how i had it all
when you where at my side
but i guess that's what true love is
putting her needs before my own
because i'd do anything
to make sure she never felt alone
