IN THE HEAT

Contributed by mbarren on Wednesday, 11th January 2006 @ 06:39:56 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

It's the heat, like
i am being cooked on
this oily smelly flaming
surface of mc'z grill
cooking like a weedy chicken
walking on two legs
sizzling silently, slowly
taking long steps with
my stylish shoes which
i foolishly wore this morning
leather all in black
longing for the firey sun to
hand some blazes for free

sweating in this hellish time of the day
i am in no control of my breath
and trees,
that cool breeze
that we all think will
release us and free us
when we are chained
kneeling on our knees
no breeze
no island of shades to swim to
to seek shelter in
no chilling glass of water to drink
no "please"

so i am on my own
but not alone
in this empty street that
extends long ahead and behind, like
a straight line on the x and y plane
it defines no beginning or ending
it's the direction that i chose
not the destination, in the end
it's the line that will matter
not the points along the way

every now and then, a mirage
of a shiny pond, distant
reflecting the blues of sky, makes
my half open eyes go full wide, makes
my gasping go away least for a while
makes me smile

every now and then, the feel
of your hand in mine
makes me walk slower
so you can keep up and
better than a breeze, shade of a tree
or even a pool we could jump in
is when we smile at
each other
then we both laugh knowing this
will end sooner or later, knowing it
will be another day that we spent together

...I really liked it...you must be on the other side of the planet, though...it's bitter winter outside here...

...this part stood out for me...

it's the direction that i chose
not the destination, in the end
it's the line that will matter
not the points along the way

...and I Loved the ending...

...thank you...
