She awakes, dreaming The hint of winter Stills the air, silent Like falling snow He sleeps, waking The hint of moonlight In his hair, glossy Like black stone They wonder
He whispers sonnets His breath freezes Tiny crystals that shatter Like glass She giggles, gleaming Collecting his words As they glitter and scatter Like silver sleet
They love She warms, blooming Delicate petals blossom Pale against The melting frost He lingers, eyes like serpents Hands like hot rivers Over flowing, over ice, flooding Over colors streaming Forgetting, time fleeting Desperately clinging Cold hearts beating They burst open Like blushing flowers In the yellow sun They lay, holding The hint of spring As it drifts off like snowflakes
They sleep, Dew-cold lilies In the morning light
