A mere hour and a half north of the fork You can find a story worth learning The same cast and characters weve heard before As for the plot, at the end, the world keeps turning
He met her through tales of Caesar and kin She knew him only through green and lowered head She could offer the Mediterranean Waters on which he knew he could never tread
His presence was to her pleasing She taught him second chances with healthy gait Life knocks him down seven times Shes the hand to hold in search of eight
He loved to impress cause he just wasnt impressive Confidence not arrogance, she would always say The flicker behind her eyes, eluding Noting his head almost fit through the door today
He dreamt boyishly of a life lived alongside her She contented herself on being a friend He later found she knew him better than His twenty years had told him til then
We can hear a silence for want of breath When a sign of maturity finds curv-ed staff He wanted her affinity for optimism She just wanted him to make her laugh
The past taught her to guard her trust Stick it deep in her pocket given little air to breathe He just loved when he asked her for her weekend plans And she responded You tell me
His past taught him rejection over honesty The trees he walked always seemed so weak of limb Making it so hard to bottle the awareness that She will always be the laurel wreath to him
He knows shell cross his mind When hes old, tired and lying in bed For all he knew she could have been there Lying next to him instead

What is with all the one votes on poetry today? Many I have read that are wonderful pieces, such as yours, have been scored extremely low. I wish we weren't allow to score unless a comment was made. I loved your piece. Such a story woven in sweet poetic fashion. Well done, thank you for sharing. Peace, Laura |
