i put out the sun
and devoured the stars
to place you alone in the sky
so that all the world could see
the beauty you possess, yet deny
my life for you
my love to you
and every ounce of gratitude
for always being there
you exist, oblivious
to the perfection that you are
never seeming amazed
at the miracle you are
a black rose in the wasteland
in bloom you bring life
to the cemetery where you grow
every hungry ghost in my mind
dies anew when you're in my arms
and every flame in my fury-fed prye
expires when your eyes meet mine
a seamless weaver of unimagined dreams
whose gentle caress revives
the most decayed and soured heart
a flawless mother
and a wife no man could hope to deserve
in constant awe, i can only offer these stumbling words
i love you
