He Hears!

Contributed by Elizabeth_Dandy on Sunday, 26th January 2003 @ 07:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

He loved the birds, - loved them so very much,
But had to be contented just to watch;
He missed their trilling songs, their chirpings cheer,
And tweeting sweet,- my darling could not hear.

Deprived of hearings blessed faculty
He watched the birds that landed by the sea,
Or to the skies took up their sudden flight,
Like his ideas, plentiful and bright.

Of hearing aids he bought - he thought- the best,
Net-bought,-my strong-willed love declined a test,
And sundry battery satchels idly sat,
Or rolled in drawers - or his crochet hat..

He left for heaven -and I cannot deal
With all the things he handled with great skill,
The countless tricks he managed expertly,
As partisan to high technology.

I call on him to tell him that I fear
The weird electric- electronic gear,
The fearful wire bundles he put in,
And hook-up cables bluish red and green

Help Stephen help me, - lost and beat I am,
A sucker to enticements and to scam,
With many cares to top my bitter grief,
You got to help me now, - please help me Steve!

Faith comes from hearing, says the great Saint Paul,
But faith can be infused into the soul,
Depends not on some sermon harsh and long,
The deaf have faith, - methinks St. Paul was wrong.

I call on Stephen when I get too sacred,
And things work swiftly out - he must have heard;
The gear stops balking while I dry my tears,
I doubt no longer that my sweetheart hears.
