They reached the sundown of their lives Many had been faithful loving wives But no longer with their husbands tarry For death has taken the one they did marry
So together at the cemetery they gather Something that they would not rather And talk and sometime crack a joke But mostly tears back they do choke
Some have been here for many a year But others are new to this kind of tears They call themselves the sundown club A name for the group one of them did dub
The widows of a generation strong When couples learned to get along Where divorce was the exception you see Loving no matter what was the decree
Most of them were women but now and then They did admit to the club some men Then it happened unexpectedly per chance Once in a while there started a romance
For the sun may be near time to set But they were not gone from this world yet So life goes on and so does love As their mates smiled from heaven above

I know this story well. lots of smiles come down.. yes, life goes on. when I was a young woman, I asked my first husband, if I died, would you remarry, and he answered me, life goes on my love. All I needed to hear, and then, I am still here, and I remarried, and He gave me away to my second husband, my story is the same as my next door neighbor.. I am not so unique, lots of people go through this.. well, I go to visit the cemetary often, for my other family, to the ocean for my first husband, and yes, talk, laugh, hide tears.. lovely write, just lovely, your pen knows my heart. raquelLeah :D |

I would like to bet that this happens more often than not. I often see men and women at cemetaries many speak to their loved ones. Fitting name Sundowners club. peace from bernard2 |
