All That Remains

Contributed by Sinned on Sunday, 5th February 2006 @ 02:09:57 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

A place in time life was full
Love seemed everywhere
People smiled passing on a street
For I walked with beautiful

Holding your hand
We were in love
Time past on by
Fading footprints upon the sand

Memories like ripples over water
The bad ones fade
The good ones stay
Love began to falter

It wasn't me it wasn't you
Free love was all the rage
A time a place
Hard it was for love so true

A place in time
The me generation
All went wrong
A social crime

Everything so fast
Party on
Its me its me
Nothing last

A child is born
Small matter
Its what I want
All forlorne

Tomorrow can wait
A time to live
A time to die
Everything left to fate

All that remains
When two loved
Memories of youth
Aged hearts and a touch of pain

every generation in time.. wow... I remember when they used to push free love.. free spirits.. rush on up, get your drugs here at parties everywhere you went, spouse swapping, I think the swingers are still around.. the only drug I ever took was trying to smoke one of those sticks out in the meadow, I guess we called them bamboo sticks, and we took matches and tried to act like grownups and smoke them, which I never learned how to inhale lol.. I know what you poem is about.. well, what it did for me, was to write to you this silly comment, but hey, that is what your poem did to me lol. raquel leah shhh, don't tell anyone what I said, lol...

Yes Denis the last commenter is right. This was a beautiful and Alas - sad poem.
belonging to a generation and a time and country of birth where the spirit reigned in flowering innocense, (you read it in my Alpine Christmas) DEscribed also in "The Belfrey of Hallein. " my home town. I never caught on with the spirit captured so sadly in your poem.
How fortunate I was.
Oh I could weep for all those children and about how much they missed.
and thanks for sharing with as this beautiful and saddening poem.
Blessings in abundance

Elizabeth
