The Power

Contributed by NoSaint on Wednesday, 8th February 2006 @ 04:53:17 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

With the power that pours from my fingertips
I can show you worlds unknown
I can make you laugh and bring you to tears
A Lovers first passionate embrace or the love of holding a newborn
These are just a few of the wonders I can bring to you

I will ensnare you with the web of images I project from my hands
My magic carpet of truth and fantasy will enthrall you
With me you can soar with the eagles or run with the wild stallions
Cry with the lonely widow or be enraptured by the young womans desire

Waterfalls of serenity I bring, as well a gales forces on the open sea
We will go where castles on clouds are built; Dragons fly high with fiery breath
Knights save the maidens fair, and fairies mischievous tricks are played
All of heaven and earth I can lay before you with great majesty

For I hold the POWER OF THE WRITTEN WORD

I should have been reading your work a long time ago. As a poet, I greatly appreciate your declaration. As a reader, I greatly appreciate this work. You seemed tp write with a power and a temperment that must have been hard to contain into only a three full stanzas, a one line opening, and one line closing. Yet to continue on would have become rambling. The fact that you were able to conclude this to such a precise time, shows your ability to write.

How powerful! A cascade of emotions and great POWER. You could have chosen mnay titles but that word sums it up and is simply perfect!

Bravo! Once again I continue reading....

Good write, Shari,

isn't their a category celebrating the written word - poetry about poetry? If not, their should be. I quite enjoy poetry that sings praises to itself -my 100th posting will celebrate this very thing - and I really enjoyed your homage to the power of the word. I loved the images you laid out here- very easy to engage with them and feel yourself in the midst of it all.

Thanks for posting,

Spike
