The shades of silence

Grief

I imagine an endless field of summer rolling over empty hills, a white sky chasing its own reflection; a juniper stands idle, watching a small mouse sleeping in its shade, and I am left alone.
I imagine the winter's raging snows and rivers; the world rests its head beneath the dirty pelt of silence, and I am left alone.
I am spring and fall laying at the blankets edge. I imagine her cold warmth of flesh beneath me; her fingers tangle the rusted blade of my hair.
My lips embrace her, I taste the small of her breasts; she is juniper and rain, a small mouse trembling in the cold, and I am left alone.
I imagine how it is without her and it is an endless field of summer, and it is the winter's raging snows and rivers;
and it is a small mouse sleeping in the shades of silence.
And at that, I see her smiling.
