The first cry

It is like an ocean in your hands, so vast and small, or a blue sky at the very edge of our tongues, convulsing violently; trembling and turning; until finally folding into a small flower.
It is the beginning. It is the first cry man cries as he extends his arms to the experience of a new love; and it is the very same cry he cries as he, for the very first time, takes hold of his mothers fingers and knows that he is home.
It is all of things that cannot be said, and it is the silences that will always be said. It is that moment, that shining, true moment, that you hold her in your arms and feel her tiny fingers unclasp beneath the small and fervent rumbling of her chest. It is the sounding of her coo as she smiles at you for the first time. It is the silent promise you promise to her, as she swiftly swings to sleep.
It is the truth, and it is made through love.
