See my reflection is broken mirrors, shattered and cracked by memory gaps Reassembled, reconstructed so they resemble a fact Wish for a clear complete picture, but its not as simple as that Life is process of coping with what we essentially lack Solutions are marked by Xs on the sensory map And skull and crossbones used to predict the enemies traps Genetics imprinted me black and lineage gives me no stacks Birth lottery awarded me pole positioning in the back Cooked in this American melting pot, swimming in a simmering vat Injured our backs to build this country now giving us crack And renting us tenements, living as tenants in fact But I feel that knowledge halfway leaves my innocence whacked Begin to create solutions when I extract The awareness of my plight and start predicting its tracks Piece together shards to discover youre gifted youre racked With potential only needing to be given a chance But competitive society doesnt permit an advance by everybody Only some have their way of living enhanced Aint a fair contest, didnt choose my original stance First broken mirror making past visions a glance
