Trust opens the gate; giving strangers a glimpse at thy soul Look not to the pebbles stolen from thy foundation The crumbling supports inching closer to the floor
Deny the next, and your eyes weep Regret and pity slashing the chance as it passes by Hold thy breath back Twist time and break the lock
Unfamiliar faces shine at the dull rock pulled from your stone The burning candle of their eyes, leaving a place in the hole Keep the foundation Keep the stone only as stone And weathered away is your soul, no replacement for what the wind takes Erosion done, and no change received Writhe in the pain of loss, of what you tried so hard to keep Intact and alive But ended Only as Stone
