Waiting for a Room in Heaven

Contributed by Rakerman1999 on Monday, 6th March 2006 @ 10:12:09 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Waiting for a room in heaven
Knocking, knocking, let me in
Devil snapping at my heals
Crying out my every sin
Oh that I could for a moment
Cast away this nagging doubt
Waiting for a room in heaven
Praying that they're not sold out

Waiting for that golden carriage
Whisk me off to Godly plain
Satan's one small step behind
Mad as hell and gone insane
Better have a ticket ready
I can feel his raging heat
Waiting for that golden carriage
Praying I can get a seat

I just don't have time to wonder
I can't leave it all to fate
Heaven might be booked 'til Friday
Lucifer ain't gonna wait
I was such a fool to listen
Lost my soul through deals made
If I don't get out of town
He will end up fully paid...

Swimming in the lake of fire
Backstroke, breaststroke, all the same
There's another splash and squeal
And one more familiar name
I can put up with the torment
Only thing that has me *****
I waited for a room in Heaven
And wasn't even on the list

Larry,

I have missed your poems, it is good to see you submit again. Or maybe I have just missed them? The poem is very powerful, and really struck a cord with me, as I currently struggle with some spirituality issues. So this poem comes at an ideal time for me. In fact, I am attending a 3 day spiritual retreat the end of this week.

Well done, my friend

Will

Good poem--but don't ever give up on waiting for God. Daniel in the Bible had to wait 21 days and some of us are way beyond that time limit--but to give up is not an option!

Keep writing!

Linda

how do u manage to keep your faith when so much is happening around that could put your mind to doubt. thats what the question appears to be. In my view its like , a metaphor. good right.
