Where were the monsters after all?

Little Tom was in his bed,
When lots of thoughts came to his head,
What is that lurking on the floor,
He thought of monsters, wolves and boars,
But looking closely he could tell,
Its just my black cat Tinkerbell,
There she was curled in a ball,
Her fuzzy black fur floating up the wall,
With every breath that she took,
Her little body shook and shook,
Little Tom let out a great big sigh,
I am a silly little boy,
There are no monsters in my room,
Yet whats that sitting on my Halloween broom,
With long black legs and eight big eyes,
Tom yelped with fright when he saw its size,
His mother ran into the room,
Whats wrong, she cried with a startled boom,
All little Tom could do was stare,
As his mother followed his frightened glare,
She couldnt see so she turned on a light,
And gazed at the object that had caused the fright,
Oh little Tom, she said with delight,
Is this the object that gave you a fright,
And little Tom looked at what was behind her,
To his delight it was just his toy spider,
Please mammy leave on the light tonight,
I do not want to get more frights,
And his mother said with care in mind,
Ill leave the light on over your blind,
But there are no monsters in your room,
And there are no monsters on your broom,
The only monsters in your bed are the ones inside your head.
