Formative Friends

Contributed by Man_On_High on Wednesday, 15th March 2006 @ 01:12:58 AM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

I have a few...
some now with excellent and kind wives
endlessly embroiled in maternity
others sweethearting.. a little wearily.

They leave their thoughts undisturbed
resolving disputes with fists..
occasionally broken-skinned
with the laying of distant bricks,
cemented with less-than love.
They talk of football and would fidget
behind the stems of flutes,
sputtering like candle wicks;
flaring and swearing.. roaring to life!
Lovely, familiar violence erupting
down, all their days at the quiet corner bar..
all but out of reason.

Devoid of malice, veiled or meaningful,
they rant and rave deep, intrepid, rebel themes;
observing faithful days with middle class intent...
their weekend eyes glued to clocks
for opening time-

half drunk..
half dreaming
and half in love~

pausing rarely to peep, in taboo
through the bamboo of their souls-
creeping marvelous jungle creatures
through the forest of their highest deeds
in a proud profound everlasting valor.

With splendid words, unprintable, they
import special demons, firing their loins
with strength for the significant job
of procreation.

They walk straight in the sun,
plunder their senses in prodigal tragedy,
never hesitating about being to cautious
with the echoing knowledge of it all,
fully understood.

B.

Sometime, is it comfort in life, a safe feel that always there is something, someone. That comfort of knowing.without worry. Living a life, waking up to find it gone; what we love, things, others. And are we there for that, those. If it is there we say we comfort hearts. possibly lay down on the ground, sad. Or, we get up and try to find value in life. We explore, we find. Find, found, keep somewhere those things, people around. Comfort. Look up from ourselves, it is all gone. Now what.

Hmmm. Interesting. I think only a man could write this. Hmmm. But, very well written. It would be fascinating to see a woman's take on this.

Seems rather sad to me to only live half of any part of ones life. Especially when the emotions of others are involved in the lack of total devotion and love to those parts of their lives. Well-written, Billy, and I must say there are many many people like this, sadly, in our world. I just thank God my life is not like that.

As always,
Rita

You slipped one by me, you little sneak! :P

Wow. Unbelievable awareness, my friend. Yes, I would agree with some
that there is a sadness in here ... mayhaps even a sort of "sadly, this is all
there is"
kind of attitude. Still, you have captured but a moment. A piece,
if you will, of a life. This is NOT all there is ... to life, nor, [I would gather] to
our friends.

If, by chance, we were to see the world, wholly through another's eyes ...
what truths would we uncover ? What fascinations about each other would
we not want to know? I have always been of the opinion that people are so
much more than what or how they appear. I have, on occassion, been a
victim AND a culprit (even in all fairness and kindness), in my judgment of others.

This write is extraordinary. You have captured an innate piece of the human
existence here dear billy. One, I believe many [some kicking and screaming]
can relate to. For some, happiness is not an easily or often found commodity.
For some, this IS happiness. For some, almost integral.

Masterful entrapment of life ... as is, Bill. You have such an excellent gift for this
sort of thing.

My Roxie-

Thanks for the comment luv-
You lavish me beyond flattery -lol
(really)
Your comments have always left me feeling:
(but, 2 inches tall)

I gathered up this work
after a weekend visit out to my sister's house.
(Only taken once in a blue-_)

I've many long time-friends out there..
some of which I see only once a year...
and though I've grown up..(somewhat..lol)
Spending time with them always brings me back
to that precious and most sacred time
when I was just finding my way around life.

Unfortunately..
They haven't..lol
...but I LOVE 'em just the same-
(you too luv)

As always-

Billy

Your poem was interesting and well written but I really did not like its contents. I don't know any women who would act like the men in your poem. Sometimes I don't understand men at all, especially this type of man!!

Billy~
There are moments in life that remind us of certain times we had some time ago. When we see a particular person or friend we are reminded of a particular time or thing.
You have found your way on a right path, Billy, whereas others are still trying to find their way.
A very interesting and well detailed write you have penned here my friend.
Keep up the superb work. I always look forward to venturing ur pages.
love always ur fan/friend,
