FOR THE MEEKTHE BELLS DO TOLL(Peter Sprenkeler)

They stand calm and sereneamid life's turmoil,
Peaceful yet vigilantthe salt of life's soil.
Many consider them all to be weakretiring and shy,
In the affairs of othersthey will not meddle or pry.

Softly spokenpoliteyet prepared to listen and hear,
Aggression is not a partof all they hold dear.
Achieving muchby peaceful methods and ends,
As oil on the watersa calming message this sends.

Saying littlewell chosen words are as gold,
Their values neverto be abandoned or sold.
Integrity and rightthe keystone of their lives,
Could not live with deceitor falsely testify.

Honour and self-esteemparamount in their ways,
A commitment to all thesefor all of their days.
Mis-judged and malignedstill deftly they stand,
Respect indeedtheir characters rightly demand.

Violence never allowedto stain their soul,
Sensitivity for otherstheir names written down on the heavenly roll.
Only for the meekindeed do life's bells toll,
For meekness is mighty strengthunder perfect control.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
