The Light Among The Darkness

Contributed by MoonlitAngel on Friday, 26th July 2002 @ 08:25:33 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

I know that you are who you are
And I know that that person inspires me
I also know I'm scared of you
Because of the things you're making me feel

See one of my fears is falling in love
But I'm content with where we are
Feels like I'm living in a perfect world
So please just don't leave me with scars

One thing you don't know about me
Is I'm not really the person you see
I locked myself tightly away
And the sad thing is I don't have a key

So if you could help me to love again
To trust, and to open my heart
You could be the first to know the real me
If I only knew where to start

I want to be the one who cried
Who was always the light among darkness
Who always had undying faith
In the meaning behind a loved one's kiss

The fact that I've been living as someone else
Makes me scared of myelf, my thoughts
It seems like I hurt everyone I love
And they hurt me an awful lot

I lost myself when I lost her
You're making me fall, so catch me, be there
Be the one who makes me happy
And make me feel safe if I get too scared

Coz I don't want to run away from you
But if I get too close to you
I know that's what I'm gonna want to do
So I hope that you'll love me too

But until then, just be with me
I'm telling you what the stars mean to me
They're the lights among the darkness
Just like the person I'm trying to be

Be aware I'm facing a fear of mine
I might need you to help me through
Because I want you to know the real me
And I want her to know you too

phew, what an exceptional poem.
You know when you first fall in love, everyone is scared of being hurt and loosing what we hoped could be precious. Its always worse at the begining of a relationship too, when we are not totally sure what is going to happen. I am sure they love you asyou are, not as someone else.
