~Mulligan Mastiff and the Mouse~

Contributed by ladyfawn on Friday, 31st January 2003 @ 05:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: PetPoems

The tiny Mastiff weighed in at 114 pounds
And the Big Fat Strong Mouse only an ounce,
As the sound came again from the wall
Mulligan Mastiff he quickly did pounce!

For every day the Mouse he had
Snuck into Mulligan's bowl of food,
Yummy endless Mouse dining; then Run!
Mouse thought this fun as bewildered Pup stood!

The Mouse was evasive and so very fast
On this went; Morning, Noon and Night,
After the chase the Mastiff would rest
Who would in the End Win this fight?

One day the high-pitched squeal was heard
The Mouse had caught himself a plight,
His tail stuck on the glueboard now
Mastiff eyes lighting in pure delight!

Mulligan woofed and jumped with Glee!
Though could not let it rest, you see...
And got his jowles stuck to the board
The person he showed; Yup it was me.

So now board held tightly Mastiff and Mouse
Both sets of eyes helplessly looked at me,
I gripped the board between my hands
To first set Chagrinned Mulligan Free.

I could not help a jolly happy laugh
My eyes filling with warm heartfelt tears,
As both Mouse and Mastiff popped off board!
The Mouse he ran! This could take Years!

What an Adventure this day was still after
the glueboard had carefully been replaced,
Mouse's rustle heard from under the dresser-
Startled hunters smile on Mulligan Mastiff's face.

Away! Off again! Ran that fat sassy Mouse!
Great Hunter Mulligan looking here and there,
He dug and he hopped and he stalked the floor
Mastiff determined to find Mouse once more...

~A Squeak!...~

Oh! Then I had to hoot again!
Quite honestly almost wet my pants!
For on the board Mulligan Mastiff had Caught--
His very Own Paw! And All around he did Dance!

Lmao! I clicked on this page randomly and I see there are a few dog poems. Those are always a smile, (and usually), a laugh inducer.

I once had a very brief mouse problem at a place I lived. I had a Border Collie at the time, and that crazy fool didn't sleep a wink for days. Neither did I, but that is another story!

Oh the instructions that I read,
Now the mouse is gone and dead.

I know, I'm cruel but those things bring filth and disease. You're too sweet Nessa as does this cute poem prove.

Enjoyed this.

Thank you,

Tim
