She sat alone in the downstairs bay window; it was quiet now
As she looked out her window she thought to herself; it started to rain
The raindrops streaked down her windowpane; the rain looked like tears
She rested her chin on her knees; sleep started to take hold
The rain was falling down hard that day; it was so cold and bleak
How long was this going to last; she must have sat there for hours
Impatience stirred within her; she hated waiting for the rain to end
As the time creeped away her eyes grew heavier; she drifted into slumber
While she slept the rain continued to fall; it seemed like it would always fall
