My lover-My father-My protector

Contributed by Somnium on Saturday, 1st April 2006 @ 04:58:40 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

my lover
my father
my protector

He stands at the edge
such a long way down
and he calls me there

I come up with so many excuses why not

but unflinching he calls me again
he does not heed my feeble protests

I take a step nearer
not wanting to comit
to what I really want to do

Theres so much stuff I like back here
I say
But really I know whats there is better
but I can't leave it and let go

He really calls me now
two steps more
I take
to the edge.

Still not close enough he says
Cant we both stay here? i say
but no, he says, come he calls

I take another step
little baby steps
so I don't get too close
But he isnt fooled
why did I even try

Hes got too many good reasons not
to
So i take another step
then three more
And Im at the edge

My lover
my father
my protector
looks at me in the eyes
smiles at me
tells me he loves me
And pushes me
down
over
the
edge....

And I fly
