In The Past I Have Said Thank You....

Contributed by bethwood on Monday, 3rd April 2006 @ 09:23:10 AM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

In the past I have said Thank You
But somehow that's not enough
To show that I appreciate
Your guidance and your love.

In my every darkest moment
You have been my guiding light
Every mistake that I have made
You've shown how to make it right.

Always without judgment
Not a single 'told you so'
You have always been so solid
Always shown the way to go.

Now based on your examples
Of how family life should be
To my children I will aim to teach
The lessons you taught me.

Beth Wood
April 06.

So sad that your dad died, but two things: From reading about your chewed nails and this poem, I'll bet your dad knew about your feelings and, if he didn't, he does now - in the Hereafter. Beautifully simple, clean and reverent.
Good job!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
