In the darkest of hours
Where sleepy eyes do rest
My heavy burdened heart
Is challenged to contest
The safe haven it once knew
Now slowly ceases to exist
Where love once happily dwelt
Torment and misery consist
Sadness seeks itself refuge
From a battle from far within
Bad choices are often made
Affairs of the heart can be a sin
My eyes see no more light
Tears evade their cosy place
Bloodied thoughts called memories
Trigger what I try to replace
The sunrise of a new day
Breaks the motion of pain
Until the moon dons the sky
This painful cycle begins again

Such excruciating sadness in this one, hun. I'm sorry for your pain darlin', but as you
always say to me . . chin up, sweet girl. The lows are only there so we can recognize the
highs, and do not apologize for writing what you feel sweetie. This was beautiful
sadness and so very well penned. A monumental piece of darkness clouding the
soul. Very emotive. I feel ya sweets.

Love is never lost. If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and purify the heart. Perhaps it’s like the clouds that sometimes block the sun. The walls people often build around the heart can also keep out the joy. The word “happiness” would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.
“Yet be sad, good Sister,
For, by my faith, it very well becomes you.
Sorrow so royally in you appears
That I will deeply put the fashion on
And wear it in my heart”
We look before and after,
And pine for what is not,
Our sincerest laughter
With some pain is fraught:

My friend this was beautiful and I can
definitely relate. For some reason the 2nd to
last stanza stood out to me, in particular the
last 2 lines. The imagery and emotion in this
write made it a joy to read... I only wish this
isn't actually how you felt. Once again thank
you for your comments on my two poems I
always look forward to them.

Sue,
This night you and Roxy have captured my heart like never before on this site. How tragic, the heart breaks of you two are. I can only pray that you will find that happiness that you deserve. Same as I feel about Roxy and many others on this site. Everyone, in fact deserves hapiness. Though, the poet is a soul that cannot be tamed, it can be caged and hurt by the exhaustion of others and their games.
None are more foolish, romantic, and vulnerable than the artist. You are an amazing writer. I know the scars hurt but they are also those things that make us feel. If we did not know pain, then we would not know what hapiness was. The journey of the jester to the kingdom that makes him king, or her queen. Thus is the life of the poet.
Love will dwell again, I promise you.
What you captured here, as did Breezy in her latest work was a tremendous reality that heart break casts. The poem as a whole is excellent but the final stanza is one of the most real and personal felt stanzas I have read in some time.
WELL DONE!
My prayers and thoughts are with you. As they are for all who find pain in the exhausting search for love.

Hey Sue,
I'm usually the first one or at least I try to be one of the first ones to catch your new poems. Guess I didn't this time. Love your work. We all feel down sometimes, do what makes you happy. Take a break from whatever your doing. Dwelling on whats going wrong or badly in your life only makes it worse. Hope you feel better, but no matter how your feeling your poems always turn out beautiful.
Well done again...I'm going to try to get back on this website more often, I've been slacking lately.

The night is a lonely place when we're feeling low and memories are harsh. Life is a sea of emotional troughs and crests and there is a crest ahead . This is written beautifully, even if it is terribly sad. The emotions are real, and are fully felt by the reader, and you should never have to apologize for how you feel. I sure hope this awful sadness is now a thing of the past for you...
