We suffered a great loss when Carroll O'Connor died in 2001. He made two programs successful and almost starred on Gilligan's Island. He was a terrific actor and he is missed. On one program he was a cop and on the other he was a racist. But he wasn't prejudice in reality. O'Connor is dead but his shows will be around for future generations to see. The world was sorry when he died, and we were all saddened by his son's suicide. O'Connor's role as Archie Bunker ended in 1983. He later went on to become Bill Gillespie. He began as a bigot and years later he and a black lady got hitched. That was quite a switch. Watching these shows was indeed an honor. Goodbye, Carroll O'Connor.
