In swamp lands tides were rising, Were the poor folk wear residing, Trying to hitch a lift from hell, Before the Heavens Fell, But theres a preimum on existance, As SUV's drove off into the distance, And the wind roared around, Whipping buildings from the ground,
As the waves lashed down on New Orleans, The Lights went out on the American Dream
They waited for supplies, While Carcasses drew flies, Waited There in vain, Treated with disdain, The Presidents advice, Was practice self Reliance, Failed by those in power at their most desperate hour,
As the wind it roared round new orleans, the lights went out on the american dream.
It'll never be the same, By the lakes of Ponchatrain, Now they've seen what their worth, Just Niggers in the dirth, How could they wave that flag, That sullied tarnished rag, A symbol never to be forgot, They were left to rot.
As the wind it howled round new orleans The lights went out on the American Dream,

Your poem has a universal appeal to it. New Orleans just does not exist in America but in every country and in every state on this earth so do politicians.
Tear-jerking poem indeed.
