What would you say if I told you I've been thinking about you?
Would you run and hide?
But it's ok, because it's what I expect
It's about time I try my best to be with you
If I was to tell you that I've been this way for years
What would you think of me?
A coward for never confessing
Or flattered by my unresting for you?
If there were words to let you know
I'd memorize them for days
And I'd learn the silly ways to say them
Plenty of chances to make things happen
Buildings I could have sang to you from
But now they're flattened
Now I watch from the valley below
Knowing I'll never get to heaven without you
My options are growing thin
And when it comes to ideas, I don't have a lot
You always had me at point blank range
You just never took the shot

God, that struck a chord in me! I really empathised with this piece, perhaps because I'm a coward and constantly "run and hide". A lovely, well written poem, thank you.
