as early morning sleepiness
retreats like dew
through open windows out to join the sea
i rest my head, serene, against your chest
and merge our heartbeats
one to one.
then
as time, once more, begins to call,
inhaling your tender flavour
i begin to let you go
again.
And now, your prescence gone
white t shirted, long sleeved
smiling soul
i feel a space in this loud room, so deep
where you last were
and a crease in my heart
so deep
where your soul slept
entwined with mine.
And i watch the sea, and swallows dart
like silver fish across the sky
and an eagle swoops and takes my heart in it's mouth
And still i think of you........
You
and I
sensed, and heard
and felt, and caressed
in every drip of honey sunlight
in every swollen wave
in every fleck of foam
in all the fabric blue of sea and sky
You and I
and then i realise
in peaceful calm
that you are always here
