I Drove Around All Night

i drove around all night
shaky hands gripping the wheel
mascara streaked face
peering out at the stars
as the memories crashed about
through my mind
the warmth of summer
wind tangling our hair
sounds of the radio clashing
with laughter and squeals
sometimes not a word was spoken
intertwined hands was enough
to fill the silence
perhaps i was searching for you
or maybe just trying to hush
the screaming of my heart
either way i came out empty handed
with only those bitter sweet memories
crashing about through my mind
