would you let me have my turn?
would you go on burning
while I merley sit and yearn?
If you could burn out gracefully
so I could have my chance?
would you let me steal the sky a while
so my dreams could dance?
If you could fizzle softly
leave a scar inside the night
would you shoot across the sky and fall
with dignity in flight?
Let me take your place and try
to measure up to you
believe in me a moment
the way that I believed in you
If you could die in silence
so that I could find my voice
If you could accept fate
so I finally have a choice
Well then go on gleam forever star
never let me shine so bright
I'll burn out unnoticed
never having shared my light
