Remember

Remember back when we were young
Remember all the rules to handball?
Remember pops are redo?
Remember dead mans and Americans?
Remember sliders and slices?
Remember babies and apples?
Remember easies and hardies?
Remember how you hated it?
Remember how I loved it?
Remember all the rules to tetherball?
Remember hitties?
Remember catchies and throwies?
Remember ropies and bubbles?
Remember how you loved them?
Remember how I hated them?
Remember when recess became a memory?
Remember sitting with our friends and talking?
Remember eating in teachers rooms?
Remember running together?
Remember a million excuses?
Remember our excitement?
Remember nine miles?
Remember eighteen?
Remember running the mile?
Remember how I held you back?
Remember how you pushed me?
Remember the week before LA?
Remember when we rode up?
Remember when we fought the last time?
Remember the night before?
Remember the 6th of March?
Remember how we acted?
Remember the awkward months?
Remember the relief high school brought?
Remember the snowboarding?
Remember the retreat?
Remember best friends forever?
Remember this- we may not be friends anymore, but you shaped my life more than anyone else has. Maybe someday we can play handball- easies. And maybe someday we can play tetherball- hitties.
Remember five years.
Remember me.
