a white rose petal

Contributed by In_a_While on Sunday, 14th May 2006 @ 01:45:30 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

butterflies and dying trees
i press upon your window pane
while i scream i pierce the vein
and now you know i please

a white rose petal blackens well
i see you sleep within your room
nightmares share their view of gloom
and mourning sounds a solemn bell

I'll try now to let you see
all that's now debris in me
world wars match the imagery
but nothing helps renew

sunny days bring clouds to play
i'm the rain outside your soul
on my shoulder sits a crow
you've only moments left to pray

pillows turn into needles tar
sleep becomes a memory
let us keep the end of free
our slavery's a burning star

no more
it's always
a noose
no more
i'm always
to lose

Very powerful, and well done imagery!
Desolution and darkness here, but I sense so much more beneath the lines...
