My Brother
When I die, little brother, I will look upon you fondly, I will be your guardian angel, I will reserve a seat for you, Much greater than mine, Made of mortal things,
The fabric of my life is grey, And I am poor in faith, But you mend me, You bring me wealth
You give me new hope, little brother You give me reason to be kind, Giving, and thankful, Thankful for your unknown wisdom, Patience and beauty
Your picture rests upon my window sill The picture to which I pray Prayers of good health and joyousness Prayers of bribes and guilt
For I am half the brother you deserve, And I assure myself to be your role model, But it is a bribe my guilt refuses
You are my role model For it is you who has changed me You have drowned me, And cleansed me
When you grow, You will read this poem, And truly understand it, And you will write a better one
For you are everything I could be, And everything I wished for you to be.

No sibling rivalry here, just a whole bunch of love. Yes I think your brother has mellowed your feelings. Well written and very caring words. It was a joy to read, It is excellent. Sue x |
