A chilly breeze rushes through the air, A mother covering her precious child with her coat, She knows that the end is near, She has lost all hope for tomorrow, But the only thing carrying her, making her move, making her bother at all, Is the thought of her child, Her child who has no daddy, whose brothers and sisters have all flown away to be with the angels, Her fear drives her on, day and night, night and day, Because she knows The inevitable is coming It is not far away; she hears its shallow breath whispering behind the wind, She can fell its subtle chill in the air, the very same chill that ruffles her beloved childs hair, The same wind that is whisking the leaves off of the trees and into the gutters, She knows She knows and she cannot bear it, Quietly she kisses her son on the cheek, And she jumps, she soars, but she does not float.
