Save God, Who Mourns For Man

Contributed by LMerrillMcClure on Saturday, 24th June 2006 @ 12:29:42 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Have no dirges at my grave.
Have no mournful singing, save
The Halleluiah Chorus.

Have no weeping at my grave.
Have no mournful sobbing, save
those who cry for freedom.

Have no black veils at my grave.
Have no cloth of mourning, save
the Stars and Stripes across my bones.

Have no priest pray at my grave.
Have no words of mourning, save
a prayer for those who live.

Have no flowers at my grave.
Have no wreaths of mourning, save
the Georgia pines.

Have no eulogy at my grave.
Have no epitaph of mourning, save
a verse from Thanatopsis

Have no marker at my grave.
Have no stone of mourning, save
the crust of Mother Earth.

Have no spirits at my grave.
Have no wraiths of mourning, save
the ghost of my father to welcome me.

Have no visits to my grave.
Have no special day of mourning, save
the day the world dies.

Have no angels at my grave.
Have no host of mourning, save
God, who mourns for man.

God is not the one who needs saving. It is US who need saving. We need to commit to Him our unconditional love and loyalty BEFORE we die. After we die, it's too late to decide to change our ways. Thank you for sharing this. wrdz

Always remember to go with God, for He always goes with you. wrdz

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
