Darkness consumes my being
Gently covering my eyes
In my ear it whispers
Its sweetly hidden lies
It tightly holds my mind
In its outreached hand
Showing me false direction
To an unknown land
My heart screams in protest
Crying its silent tears
While it attempts to run
From my unspoken fears
Although my eyes are dry
My tears continue to fall
Magnifying the pain
But still to you I call
The shadows continue to tell me
This land is free of pain
Only pleasures of life
Are the elements that remain
In the silence of darkness
Your voice is all I hear
Whispering its melody
Through a falling tear
All these serenading lies
Mastered the art to deceive
But no matter how tempting
From your side I will not leave
You have led me
From reliving my past
By showing me your guidance
And a love that will last
So now in turn I'll say
I'll love you completely
Surrendering my heart
To give you all of me

| I enjoyed this poetic effort, but I must say that the ending was a bit weak...it seemed hastily contrived, and did not do justice to the rest of the poem. |
