Just a shirt, nothing special,
Anonymous, unguarded apparel
Not a present from a lover,
A wife or child, even mother
Just a shirt.
Definitely not a fashion statement,
With no message of any portent
Or iconic images stamping the fabric
Shouting LOOK AT ME! - so tragic
Just a shirt.
As tops go, its comfortable enough,
Nice fit, usual collar and cuff
Good for work or a night on the town,
I dont look corporate or like a clown
Just a shirt.
Itll be on the floor by the end of the night,
No fancy wash - Itll scrub up alright
A hour in the sun and back on the hanger,
Some bloke will buy it, none the wiser
Just a shirt.
And now the pants.
