the sun beat up the concrete we sat around and ate the heat of a color i wouldnt sell the porch paint chipped and fell
our lost ghosts flew above the street black river that could melt your feet we're too old to play the ground is lava so we thought it best not to wander
our minds didn't have a prayer our memories cooked medium rare evaporated like a liquid dream into a wayward cloud of steam
i sat inside and escaped the cover and got upset from what I thought I was over the only memory that was left alive stood in the heat and in my mind i rolled in crisp leaves scattered on my lawn the day the summer got too long I rolled in them and then they were gone the day the summer got too long
