My Regret

As I hide in the shadow of anger,
Cloaked by a blanket of fear,
Imprisioned by my emotions,
I think about why I am here.
I ripped out his heart and tore it to shreds,
No one deserves the pain that is me,
For my actions, myself I will never forgive,
And for my actions, neither will he.
I'm afraid to advance in my future,
For, I'm scared of whats happened before,
And I'm afraid for the next man who loves me,
Remembering the heart I just tore.
I wonder if I can ever move on,
If I'll ever be loved again real,
But a love without pain is a rare thing it would seem,
And it's something I fear I won't feel.
Feeling the pain that these memories bring,
I begin to fear for my life,
However, I hope I'm of more value alive,
And I decide to live with the strife.
Once again I cower in my life of deceit,
Hiding from what I can never forget,
Trapped inside by all that is real,
Forever tortured by my regret.
