The ground of the forest hid something under A huge heart that had the sound of thunder Humans, animals, trees and spirits were scared From that giant that straight at their souls stared
A curious fool mouse seeked daring danger Forgetting he was to that heart a stranger He bit in rage to discover a taste A taste that left him behind years of waste
That creature was doomed to live in darkness Having wings grown, becoming symbol of sadness The mouse became a bat that was cursed forever "Would I see the Sun again?", it cried. No..never...

At dead of night, the creature waits, for smaller souls, to take for bait, And when it does, it leaves them stark, hidden away in the dark.
Loved this poem, have often considered writing this kind of poem myself, but will leave to the experts. Like yourself. Enjoyed it very much. Sue x |
